When not to use PHIXER (builds trust)
PHIXER is free continuous stereo phase repair. It is the wrong tool for true delay/time-align problems, mono sources, and creative Haas widening. Saying that out loud is how you keep mixes honest.

Hard clarify: PHIXER rotates L/R phase continuously (Amount / From / To). It is not a delay aligner, not a mono maker, and not a Haas widener. If you need those jobs, use those tools. If stereo still hollows in mono after timing/polarity hygiene, that is PHIXER territory.
Three honest "do not use" cases
1. True delay / time-align problems
Kick in vs out, DI vs cab, OH vs snare: clear early/late peaks on related mics. Slide time (samples / ms) until the transient clicks. Continuous phase rotation will not replace lining up two mics of the same source. Map: phase rotation vs time-align 2025.
2. Mono sources
A single mono track has no L/R fight to repair. Polarity flip (0° / 180°) or routing to the right bus is enough. Do not park a stereo phase rotator on a mono DI "just in case." Compare polarity-style tools: free continuous phase vs RX-style / polarity.
3. Creative Haas widening
Haas (short delay between L and R) is a width effect you chose. Folding to mono will cancel by design. That is not a bug to "fix" with phase rotation unless you are deliberately undoing the effect for a mono-safe delivery. Keep Haas when you want the illusion; mono-check when delivery demands body.
Quick fit table
| Symptom | Right move | PHIXER? |
|---|---|---|
| Mic B is 1 to 3 ms late | Time-align / sample nudge | No (first) |
| One track is inverted | Polarity / Invert Phase | No |
| Mono DI only | Leave it; or polarity vs another path | No |
| Haas delay for width | Keep for stereo; strip for mono-safe stems | Usually no |
| Stereo bed still hollows in mono after hygiene | Continuous L/R phase rotation by band | Yes |
Decision path (keep trust)
1. Mono-check
True L+R or phone speaker. Note what disappears.
2. Hygiene first
Time-align real dual paths. Flip polarity if needed. Re-check mono.
3. PHIXER only for residual stereo phase fights
After hygiene, if the stereo print still cancels by band, use free continuous phase repair. Mono-check again.
4. Prove it
Null / correlation habit: stereo null test / correlation check.

Trust takeaway: Skip PHIXER for delay matching, mono sources, and intentional Haas width. Use it when stereo L/R still eats bass in mono after you did the honest hygiene.
